Best Overall: EarFun Air S Noise Cancelling Wireless Earbuds
We have suggested Earfun's AirPro SV and Air Pro 2 as budget-friendly noise-canceling earbuds (they remain terrific deals). With a multipoint Bluetooth connection and the newest Qualcomm QCC3046 processor with the aptX audio codec for Android and other devices that support it, the new 2022 Earfun Air S may be the best of the three. They use the same 10mm, wool drivers as the AirPro SV, and their sound quality is surprisingly outstanding, given their low cost. Additionally, they function effectively as a headset for making phone conversations, with adequate background noise suppression. The buds have an IPX5 water-resistance certification, which means they can endure a prolonged spray of water and are splashproof.
-
Best Game Mode: SoundPEATS Wireless Earbuds Air3
The Soundpeats Air3 Deluxe HS is open earphones that function surprisingly well and are now on sale. Their list price is $50, but with an immediate reduction of 20%, the price reduces to $35 when you use the code DELXHSPR at checkout. The offer is valid through December 15 or while supplies last. The sound quality of these Soundpeats Air3 Deluxe HS earphones is surprisingly excellent for open earbuds; it's comparable to that of Apple's AirPods 3 in terms of sound quality. In addition, Sony's LDAC audio codec is supported on devices that provide it.
-
Best Deep Bass: EarFun Free Pro 2 Wireless Earbuds
At a little under £70, they fall well within the category of inexpensive earphones. However, we were pleasantly impressed by the audio quality, especially when ANC was enabled. The bud output is full, powerful, and bass-heavy without sounding muddy, and there are Normal and Ambient settings if you need to allow outside noises in, such as while walking on a busy street. As with the previously evaluated Air Pro 2s, the ambient mode does not really wow us, and we still wish there were more color selections.
-
Best Low Latency: UGREEN HiTune X6 Hybrid Active
The HiTune X6 buds from Ugreen have an odd appearance, but they should fit most ears nicely and come with a variety of ear tip sizes (I went with large). The charging case and the headphones themselves do not seem or feel cheap. They are IPX5 splash-resistant and have active noise cancellation, which performs a decent job of reducing ambient noise, but their sound quality is undoubtedly their finest feature. They have excellent clarity, a large soundstage, and a bass response that avoids sounding boomy. They sound as well as many headphones that cost $100 or more, and occasionally $150.
-
Best for Sports: TRANYA T20 Wireless Earbuds
The Tranya T20 earbuds remind me of a less expensive version of Samsung's Galaxy Buds 2 without the noise-canceling feature. They lack features like ear-detection sensors that silence music when you remove a bud from your ear. However, they sound very excellent for their low cost. If you establish a good seal, they fit quite flat with your ears (they don't actually protrude) and have a battery life of up to eight hours at moderate volume settings.

Do cheap earbuds work well for making voice calls?
Many inexpensive buds now have numerous microphones, and some perform surprisingly well for voice calls. A couple of devices on our list have surprisingly excellent noise reduction and compare well to the AirPods, which are renowned for their superior performance during voice calls.
-
What are the biggest differences between cheaper buds and more premium buds?
Frequently, the largest difference is in the construction quality. Premium buds often feel more durable and are constructed with higher-quality materials. Additionally, both the earbuds and their charging case have a more premium appearance and feel. In principle, superior buds should maintain their quality throughout time.
